One of the reasons I love photographing on beaches is the light. You just can’t go wrong with it. The sand acts as a big reflector with the sunlight which helps to fill in harsh shadows and create really beautiful light on subjects. This is a Dodge Ram I photographed on Corolla Beach in North Carolina’s Outer Banks. If it’s one thing these trucks are good for, it’s having four-wheel drive to navigate through the beach’s thick sand.

This late, stormy afternoon in Mt. Zion National Park produced some gorgeous colors in the sky as the sun set. (This is the photo I was taking in my profile picture!)

An afternoon stroll on a dreary, Charleston day. It was drizzling and raining most of the day, but as always, a beautiful town to wander. This is the Charleston Library Society on King Street. I just love the trees with spanish moss hanging over the building.

Our rented Nissan Sentra in Arches National Park, Utah. We put a whopping 6,500 miles on this guy during our 10-day trip across America. Thankfully, Hertz kept their promise of unlimited mileage.

A panorama of the majestic mountains in Utah. I loved seeing the vibrant colors of the clouds and grass, along with the snow covered mountains in the distance. It’s amazing how vast the landscapes are throughout Utah. Snow covered rolling mountains to the red rock statue-like arches in Arches National Park and then the smooth, white and red rocks in Mt. Zion. This is one state I wouldn’t mind exploring a lot more.
